THE WAR ROOM

1: a room in military headquarters where maps showing the current status of troops in battle are maintained

2: a room (as at a business headquarters) used for conferences and planning that is often specially equipped (as with computers or charts)

The War Room in Born And Raised North Las Vegas is a private room inspired by Winston Churchill during World War II in London, England, located at Clive Steps, King Charles Street, London SW1A2AQ. The WR was in the basement of converted offices in Whitehall that served as the center of Britain’s war effort. The complex, known as the Cabinet War Rooms, was occupied by leading government ministries, military strategists, and Prime Minister Winston Churchill. From here, he is remembered as a hero who stopped the rot of appeasement and defeatism and ensured that Britain and its Empire could and did “stand alone” against Hitler’s Germany. Specifically, during the war in Dunkirk, Prime Minister Churchill delivered a speech that would become one of the most famous pieces of oratory of all time:

“We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills: we shall never surrender.”

Our War Room is here to pay homage to all the men and women in the armed forces and on the front lines to let them know they are cared for, loved, and accepted. What these men and women do for our freedom every day needs to be championed and praised in the same magnitude. We created a halo light that hangs above our “admirals table” and a map of the Greater Las Vegas Valley on the wall to the right to imitate where all the major decisions are discussed and made during your time in our War Room. We have metal cladding around the outside of the room to mimic a steel bombproof shelter that is secured on all sides. We hope to provide experiences our community members can reflect back on and get lost in their thoughts because of the extraordinary way we made them feel in our War Room.
